What are the goals of the IHSCCO?
How will the IHSCCO help smaller schools be more involved?
The IHSCCO would like to help all coaches be involved, become educated and be better coaches for their athletes. Regardless of their school classification, we want all schools and coaches to feel that they have a voice.
How will this organization differ from other Illinois based cheerleading organizations?
The IHSCCO was founded for coaches, by current coaches. The main difference between the IHSCCO and other Illinois based cheerleading organizations is that the IHSCCO will not host, or be involved with hosting any competitions. We will focus on communication between the IHSA and the IHSCCO member coaches, as well as education for all member coaches.
How is the IHSCCO going to advocate for cheerleading?
The IHSCCO will help advocate for IHSA Cheerleading and its members coaches by being a voice on the Advisory Board, by communicating frustrations with the IHSA and by communicating updates with coaches.
Are the IHSCCO Meetings open to all?
The IHSCCO Board meetings are not open to all, however we will have times after the meetings where members coaches can attend and hear news, as well as talk about any concerns they might have.
Will the IHSCCO provide development workshops?
Yes! Check out the Education section of this website to learn about the many different opportunities we will be offering. Many of these will be offered at no cost to current member schools!
Will there be member dues for the IHSCCO?
Information regarding membership cost can be found under the Membership section of this website. Membership will be per school, no matter the number of coaches you have.
Will there be support for spirit cheerleading ?
Yes, part of our goal this year is to make sure everyone is included. We would like to focus one of the webinars on rules, and the sideline vs. competitive aspect of IHSA Cheerleading.
How will information be shared across the organization?
The main communication for the IHSCCO will be e-mail, the IHSCCO Facebook page, and the IHSCCO webpage. We will use google forms to gather information for our meetings and decisions that need to be made.
How does the mentorship program work?
The mentor program will pair up coaches that live or work close to one another. We will try to pair coaches with under five years experience with coaches that have over five years experience. We hope that by doing this, coaches will have someone to go to with questions, concerns or to celebrate little victories with their teams.

The Illinois High School Cheerleading Coaches Organization (IHSCCO) was founded by coaches, for coaches. The main goal is to provide support for its member coaches by creating educational opportunities, providing resources and promoting growth within the IHSA cheerleading community.
Will the IHSCCO host competitions?
No, the IHSCCO will not be a competition host. Our primary goal is education and giving coaches a voice. We will host rules interpretation meetings in September, and monthly webinars starting in October.
How will you recognize coach and student-athlete achievement?
The IHSCCO plans to have a coaches hall of fame, honoring those coaches who have made a positive impact on the IHSA Cheerleading community. We also plan on having an all-state athlete program, where coaches from each conference can nominate two athletes to be considered all-state.
How does the IHSCCO plan to help promote sportsmanship within IHSA Cheerleading?
We plan to work with the IHSA to promote the Add-A-Tude Sportsmanship award given out at state each year.

- Recognize student-athlete and coach achievement.
- Support and advocate for the evolution of the IHSA Cheerleading scoring process.
- Promote participation and sportsmanship within the Illinois cheerleading community.
